A horoscope is actually a map or diagram of the heavens at the exact time of your birth. Churned-out daily horoscopes are entertaining, but they apply to you only in a very general way. Much more involved methods are used by an astrologer, who will give you a mathematical calculation and accurate picture of your chart. You may be a Pisces for example, but you actually carry with you many other traits that are associated with other signs of the zodiac.
The position of the Sun is the most important part of your chart. Second in importance is the position of the Moon. Keep in mind that there are unlimited possibilities for a chart. Calculating a chart is complex, but it is easier than interpreting one.

ASTROLOGICAL HOUSES
There are 12 astrological houses in an astrology birth chart and each represents a different part of your life or challenges that you may face along the way. The first house is always located at the position where an hour hand is at 9 o’clock on the face of a clock. The rest of the houses are lined up going in a counter-clockwise direction on the zodiac wheel.
ASTROLOGICAL ELEMENTS
The elemental nature of the zodiac signs stems from ancient Greek philosophers who believed that everything in the universe was made up of one or more of the four basic elements: fire, earth, air and water. Each element contains three zodiac signs and theses signs are known as triplicities. The astrological elements are indications of energies and personality types. The elements have been divided into two groups active and passive. Fire and Air signs are considered active. Water and Earth signs are considered passive.
ASTROLOGICAL PLANETS
In Western astrology, the location and movements of the astrological planets, sun and moon are major influences of the traits associated with the zodiac signs. The exact position of the planets, sun and moon at the time, date and location of your birth make up your natal (birth) chart. These locations are ever changing in the heavens and continually influence your current horoscope and future events that take place in your life. Each planet rules a specific zodiac sign; however, they all have some type of influence over all of the other signs.
ASTROLOGICAL MOON PHASES
In astrology, the moon phases are the relationships of the Sun/Moon at the time of an individual’s birth. It is the particular point in which the moon was in during its never-ending cycle. There are eight moon phases in a complete cycle. Knowing the moon phase adds another aspect to describe a person’s unique and multifaceted personality, in particular, emotions, intimacy and secret desires. People who are born in the same moon phase may share some of the same traits. It is also useful to know what cycle the moon is in during the current time. Each phase has certain characteristics associated with it and can be used to plan what days are the best days to make decisions and to guide you in your daily life.
ASTROLOGICAL MODALITIES
In each of the three astrological modalities or modes cardinal, fixed and mutable there are four zodiac signs. These four-sign groups are known as quadruplicities. The signs that are grouped together in each mode share the same essential and key qualities; however, they also have many individual differences.
ASTROLOGICAL DUALITIES AND POLARITIES
Dualities and polarities are groupings of zodiac signs by their yin and yang qualities and opposite characteristics.
PET ZODIAC SIGNS
Pet zodiac signs and traits might give you some insights into your pet’s behaviors good or bad. You also might find out who is really in charge. Whatever animal you live with, either a snake, a dog, a cat, a horse, or a bird, knowledge of their astrology sign might at least give you a hint of what to expect down the road. Horoscopes are a good way to see how your relationship with your pet has evolved.
The Chinese zodiac is thousands of years old and easily predates its Western counterpart. Even today, millions of believers across the globe consult Chinese astrology on a regular basis.
While Western astrology is based upon the months of the year, Chinese astrology is based upon a 12-year lunar cycle. Your sign is determined by the year in which you were born (to be accurate, you must use a Chinese calendar). Each sign and those born under it are represented by one of 12 animals and are ascribed a set of attributes that the Chinese believe comprise the nature of each particular animal.
Legend has it that the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac were chosen by Buddha. When Buddha was near death, he invited all the animals to visit him. Only 12 animals came: the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. For visiting him, Buddha honored each by using them to represent the 12 phases of the Chinese zodiac.
One of the most interesting uses of the Chinese zodiac is exploring the compatibility between the signs. That is, which duos will make good lovers, friends and partners?
To discover your Chinese astrological sign, find your birth year on the chart below,

associated with each of the animals in the Chinese zodiac.
One of the oldest Indian astrological systems is called Vedic astrology, also known as Jyotish (derived from the Sanskrit word Jyotis, meaning light or heavenly body) and dates back more than 5000 years. It is a sidereal system (one that uses only the fixed stars, not the sun or planets), and bases its calculations on the 12 constellations from the Babylonian calendar and an additional 27 or 28 lunar constellations (depending on the chart that is being used), also known as Nakshatras. It is believed that a person?s life is foretold by the position of the stars at birth.
